Cake Boss

This pink & zebra striped cake is a pretty darn cute and very popular design. If you've ever watched TLC's Cake Boss you may recognize it as the cake Buddy made for his niece's 13th birthday. I've seen lots of different versions of this cute n' sassy design so I was pretty excited to create one of my own when Amber sent me the picture straight off of the episode for her sister-in-law Tiffany's birthday.
Our favorite triple chocolate cake covered in fondant stripes, balls, bow, and stars-Happy Birthday to Tiffany!

Beauty and the Beast

A Beauty and the Beast cake for one Beautiful future bride! It was so fun to deliver this cake to Meghan's movie themed bridal shower because it fit into the decor perfectly! I'm always amazed at the talented hosts that commission cakes from us and the Langes are definitely among the best! An old fashioned popcorn machine, roses, dramatic black and red sparkled color scheme in tribute to an old cinema feel with flair!
This was a white cake (my personal favorite!) with whipped strawberry frosting filling, decorated with icing, gum paste roses, and edible shimmery white glitter-A very romantic and tasty cake that had us singing 'we're painting the roses red' for days after completion!
Congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Lange!

Fairy Baby Cake

Lisa's fairy themed baby shower was perfect for a tiny little one named Violet (expected in August!) Lisa is a katiecakes return customer so we knew exactly what flavor cake she'd like-triple chocolate, the same as her wedding cake! (Lisa loves this cake so much, she is the only bride I know who requested a whole tier of the cake be wrapped and sent to her honeymoon suite with her!) We were so excited to be able to share in the happy event of Daniel and Lisa's first baby as well. Wild color depth, shape, and vinery sprinkled with golden shimmer dust created one mystical, magical cake! Congrats to the 3 of you!

Shosh-Mish

My amazing friend Shondra just finished her Masters Degree and wanted to celebrate with a family party and CAKE! When she called me to talk about what kind of cake she wanted she told me she wanted something bright blue, something sparkley, and something that 'captured the essence of Shondra'-and left the rest up to me. Shondra's been a friend of mine for some time now so as I thought about the 'essence of Shondra' thoughts of Winnie the Pooh, soccer, dogs, poetry, OCD-cleanliness, and the real desperate housewives of orange county (which she is addicted too) ran through my mind. How do you capture the essence of someone so unique and awesome? One word: Whimsical. Shondra has three tattoos of colorful fairies and these little displays truly describe our 'Shosh-Mish'. She is silly, she is playful, she is bright and smart, she is bossy! She is a goddess! Congratulations on your Master's Degree Shondra, and thanks for letting us be a part of the celebration!

Desiree's Grandma

I've never met Desiree's grandma, but Desiree shared her grandmother's favorite colors (purple & green) with me and requested chocolate for her birthday cake. Desi also couldn't resist tying in a few polka dots for a personal touch from her polka-dot loving granddaughter. What we came up with was a great little yummy chocolate number celebrating the life of a great woman and her sweet granddaughter wishing her a happy birthday via cake!

Baby Nathaniel's cake

Baby Nathaniel is one of the cutest newborns I've ever seen! He was so tiny and precious and sported a full head of thick beautiful blonde hair! His baby shower was a coed family BBQ followed by our famous triple chocolate cake! Congratulations Mommy, Daddy, and Baby!

Jolie and her Minnie Mouse Cake!

Cute Jolie LOVED her Minnie Mouse birthday cake! Her mom threw her a pretty awesome Disney club house themed birthday party-lucky girl! Because Melissa and Jolie are both allergic to wheat we made a top layer of gluten free chocolate cake complete with gluten free icing. It was our first time baking anything gluten free but it turned out pretty well! The bottom layer was a spice cake with cream cheese frosting filling-deelish! Heres what Jolie's mom had to say about it:

Hi! Thank you SOOO much for the cake, Katie! It was perfect and beautiful and I loved it! The gluten free was good and we didn't get sick! Thank you for taking the time to make it gluten free!

I was going thru some of Jolie's birthday pictures and these pictures stood out to me! I LOVE it!

After you left, she was obsessed with her cake! She wouldn't stop looking at it and saying MY MOUSE CAKE!!! over and over again. Anyways this picture just says it all with one look!

After I snapped this picture and walked away, I came back later to find her with her finger in the frosting dots all around the bottom of the cake. She was eating them all!!! She couldn't wait to eat her cake!

Thanks for sharing your pictures with us Melissa! & Happy 2nd birthday Jolie!

Roses n' Cream Wedding Cake

Dusty Rose and Ivory were the bride's color scheme and theme for this beautiful wedding! This cake was a four tiered cake with white icing trimmed with Ivory ribbon and roses in the color of dusty pink and cream. One of my favorite parts of making wedding cakes is dropping them off and getting a sneak peek at the finished reception hall just waiting for guests to arrive. This wedding was particularly beautiful and made me want to get married all over again! (Same wonderful groom of course). Sparkling white lights, floral arrangements, dim lighting, a false ceiling, and one incredible cake ; ) really made Michelle's wedding reception elegant and gorgeous!

January Birthdays!

Bryan comes from a family of SEVEN children, and five of them share January birthdays. Our family usually gets together to celebrate these birthdays in one big celebration. This year Bryan and I were asked to make a birthday cake for the birthday siblings. We brainstormed a few ideas before we decided on making each sibling their very own personally themed birthday cake. Heres what we came up with:
*note: each of these cakes were made rather quickly! Pardon all the mistakes and the unprofessional nature of the background items : ) lol

David is turning 21 this month and works at...you guessed it Quick Trip! (The greatest gas station IN the world I might add. F'real chocolate shakes are aaaawesome!) David is more than your average QT employee. He is obsessed with the company. He's constantly spouting off little known Quick Trip Facts (about founders and statistics and such) and asking us to play 'quickopoly' which you guessed it again, is QT's version of Monopoly. The boy drives a little red car with a license plate that brags: QTGUY. Happy Birthday David!

When Amber came to my bridal shower she got to meet my sister for the first time. Introducing herself she said, 'Hi I'm Amber, I'm Bryan's sister'. My sister said nice to meet you and all that jazz to which Amber replied, 'No, you don't get it. I'm the ONLY sister, and that makes me special.' That story pretty much sums up Amber, but the truth is she is pretty special. Super friendly, beautiful and talented at almost everything, the woman is incredible! Not to mention she was the only girl with 6, yes SIX, brothers. Happy Birthday Amber! (and her daughter Reagan!)
Kenny loves the white stripes and the cardinals. We tried to tie both of these ideas into this cake and I thought it turned out pretty well. Bryan did a super awesome job with the cardinals hat...awesome detailing huh? Bry also tried piping for the very first time (thats usually my job) with that white line along the edge of the brim. anyway, we love you Kenny (whose the second oldest)-Happy Birthday!

Bryceon is 3rd and loves the Simpsons. He also loves the cardinals but one cardinals hat per cake, ya know? Bryceon hosted this years birthday party at his brand new house and fed us all super yummy chili...I'd say Bryceon's off to a great start for this year. Happy Birthday Bryceon! p.s. awesome donut huh?? Thats all fondant baby.
Daryl is oldest and spends a lot of his time either playing or talking about playing chess : ) this passion somehow transferred from oldest brother to 4th brother cause my hubby loves to play as well. (It took me a while but I even beat him once!) This cake is in honor of the brilliant and competitive Daryl-Happy Birthday Broth-a!
check out that leaning tower of bishop pawn. Thats what happens when you don't let fonant dry all the way before you stand it up!
